Hegemonic Ideology

Don't mind the title, it's just the topic that my paper for my SOC 202 class is mainly on. Anyways to recap on last night or rather yesterday, I had a day off school great timing too because it was the day of the Weezer concert.

So during the afternoon I met up with a friend of mine and then we headed downtown couple hours before show time. While we were down there, we went to this restaurant called Sushi Queen and had a meal before we headed to the ACC.

As you can see, I had the bento box with the Salmon Teriyaki as the main portion....yummy (I wish it was =/ ). So afterward we were walking down Queen Street West still and I decided to go into Bluenotes to buy myself some sort of outerwear since it was getting cold (and I was in need of new clothing anyways. I was able to find myself a red hoodie that matched (sort of) the hat I was wearing (which I also bought earlier and forgot to mention above).

Pretty random how the hat I bought, I chose to put the New Brunswick Logo on it. I guess I wanted something different and random. Haha...'kay I know it was not that funny.

After Bluenotes, we continued our journey down Queen Street. Then we stopped at Steve's Music Store and there I saw the most beautiful guitar... a Fender Jazzmaster. Why did I say beautiful? I should've used a more contemporary term like "cool" because it was exactly that COOL and SICK looking. See in that model reminded me of ART-SCHOOL's lead guitarist Toddy (Masafumi Todaka, you can check out his blog at http://toddy.unochannel.com/), because he owns/uses a Fender guitar like that as well.

And then we finally arrived at the ACC, there was already a huge line-up! When the show started guess who opened up for Weezer? TOKYO POLICE CLUB! LIKE SERIOUSLY HOW WICKED?! JUST LAST WEEK I GOT INTO THEM THE NEXT WEEK I SEE THEM IN CONCERT! TPC seemed like real guys, real down to earth and humble Canadian boys that knows how to rock a show. Following was another band whose lead singer is infamously known for being one-third of the raddest punk band ever. That's right Blink-182's Tom Delonge's band (Angels and Airwaves) took the stage. And let me just say it was a pretty strong performance on their end backed up with like the most epic light show ever, it was like I was at a rave or something.

As soon as AVA finished their set, more and more seats started to get filled. As they all came just in time to see one band come on stage...WEEZER. Surpisingly I never knew Canada had this many Weezer fans, like honestly the Canadian Weezer Fanclub on Facebook has like literally 5 members! The ACC was nearly full! Total contrast. The Weezer show was awesome, I'm glad I lost my concert virginity to Weezer. GREATEST HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE! To make things better they started off with My Name is Jonas and then Pink Triangle. There were songs the played from their new album (obviously) but I never even gave the Red Album a listen because their single Pork and Beans never really did appeal to me as much. But to my surprise their new songs sounded pretty ass kicking. Now I know why my shirt says Touble Maker, its a name of a track from the new album. Rivers Cuomo is a funny MC, sense of humor, hinted with sarcasim with lack of enthusiasim made me laugh. I swear I think Rivers is balding =X Anyways, several songs later and Undone was performed with a special guest...none other than TOM DELONGE. It was lovely I was screaming at the top of my lungs shouting "I LOVE YOU TOM!". *sighs* Goodtimes. When appearently the live was over, Weezer came back on stage with a bunch of local Toronto musicians to perform Island in the Sun, it was soo cool becasue it was something I had never seen before, like seriously an ACORDIAN SOLO? It don't get no better. Then their set was finally over. Until they came back on stage for an encore and this made my day because for their last song of the encore they played my favourite Weezer song of all time BUDDY HOLLY. After the show was done, me and my buddy parted ways on the subway train his stop was before mine (makes sense since mine was last on the line). I got home ate rice and went to sleep happy with a huge smile and a sore throat.

Here were some Weezer merchandis I bought that night.

And to end off the post, I'll leave a shot from my friends 12 megapixel camera (holy shit 12?!)
